Baby and Child Friendly at La Maison du Chateau
The owners, Nick and Susanna Lyell, have eight grandchildren aged 1 – 9, so La Maison du Chateau has become a very baby and child friendly house to stay in. Every effort has been made to not only provide everything a baby, toddler and child might need on holiday, but also to offer parents a real break from the daily routine that they have back at home.
The House is fully equipped with high chairs, booster seats, travel cots, plastic cutlery, plates, cups, beakers, bibs, as well as some soft toys, bath toys, indoor toys for children, outdoor push along cars, trucks, pool toys, children’s/baby books and DVDs. There is also Wi-Fi access in the house for those who can’t keep away from their games or social networking!
A separate room in the main house, just off the dining room, is a lovely place for children to play or watch DVDs. There is also a very large studio room in the barn, which is a perfect place for children to play on a rainy day, or to have family sing-songs round the grand piano. The outdoor space seems endless to small minds and is wonderful for encouraging older children to be imaginative in building camps, playing ball games, hide & seek, or just generally running around working up an appetite for their next French feast! To the rear of the house, there is also a large fully enclosed area with a sandpit and plenty of shade, where younger children can play, while their parents can relax comfortably, knowing where their children are.
All this, and we haven’t even mentioned the fully-enclosed and heated swimming pool, smaller paddling-style pool, ping pong table, private stretch of river with its own island, rowing boat, grass tennis court, petanque, board games, jigsaws and much more!
With so much on offer for the children, the priority turns to parental relaxation. Perhaps the biggest treat La Maison du Chateau offers parents is our wonderful cook Delphine and the charming maids. Delphine prepares a wonderful buffet lunch and a three or four course meal in the evening. Breakfast is also laid up for you (and cleared away) in the morning, with bread, croissants, pains au chocolat etc delivered fresh each day. On top of this, Delphine will also do children’s tea at the time you want it, and will have children’s lunch ready at a time convenient for you. She is happy to puree food in the magimix if required, and we will provide a menu for you to request food from.
With all the food cooked for your children and yourselves, the maids then lay the table, clear everything away and wash up, leaving you just to enjoy time with your children all day, and relax together in the evenings, when they’re happily drifting off to sleep upstairs. It goes without saying that you will be right in the m
iddle of one of the world’s top wine-producing areas, and we would be delighted to recommend wines, or to book our very own professional guide to conduct evening tastings, or ‘tasting dinners’ during your stay.
To help provide ideas when in France, we have compiled an extensive house book full of wonderful things to do nearby in the region of Burgundy for adults, teenagers and young children. We can confidently say that with twenty years under our belts at La Maison du Chateau, we can offer you a special, memorable and luxurious holiday for all the family.
