Things to do - Wine Tasting
If you have even the smallest interest in wine, exploring the vineyards and tasting the various wines of Burgundy are a must when on holiday at La Maison du Chateau. With the house being positioned between Chablis and Beaune, there are a wealth of growers to visit and taste with.
We have close links with a local (British) wine expert, who has lived in the region with his wife and children for many years, working in the wine business. He has a really good knowledge of the wines of our region and does very good wine tasting/sight seeing tours around the vineyards and to the growers, for tastings, and a chance to buy some of their wines. These places include world famous growers like Micheal Laroche in Chablis, to smaller, undiscovered places like Irancy.
As well as taking you on tours, he will also come to the house and do a wine tasting in the evening, bringing with him all the equipment and wines needed, before your 4 course dinner. He is also happy (free of charge) to recommend cellars and wine makers for you to visit on your own; and to advise generally on wine buying in this area. Finally, you can arrange for him to deliver wines (all excellent and very good value), to the house ready for your arrival.
